3D Movie Trip

This week ,our class went to a movie trip in order to experience the 3D of the movie. The movie we watched was Transformers 3 directed by Micheal Bay. It was pretty nice as you can see the 3D-ness in the movie but after the movie, I had a major headache because of the 3D experience itself. So to explained it further, I will answer it in the question form..

The Poster of the Movie....

Question;

1. The use of the screen space: on, behind and in front of the screen; the X, Y, and the Z axis. How well was it used, or was it over-used ? Did you get a realistic or a hyper-realistic sense of depth in the film and why?

-For me, the only thing that seems to pop our of the screen it the subtitle, its really annoying that the subtitle messing with the story and the 3D. But if I ignore that, the movie did have sense of depth as when the particle or the debris flying over out of the screen. One of the scene show the depth of the space when the army fly over the building in order to infiltrate the city.

2. Consider the director’s shot designs. How does the cinematographer maximize the sense of 3D by placement of the camera, choice of angles, placement/direction of actors ?

-They tried their best to put all the placement in the middle of the screen because to create the sense of 3D. But mostly it kills of the mood or 3D effect as the setting of actors went out of the movie screen.

3. What shots or visual sequences remain in your mind as visually strong ?
Discuss specific examples that you liked and why.

-It was probably the scene where things or debris flying out of the movie screen because I feel like it really come out of the screen until it move away from or fall off the edge of the screen. But then again, all of that is made in CGI, so I not sure if I remember any real scenery or actors that show any sign of the 3D, then again I did see the depth of field when it involve around the reality scene.

4. Consider the overall “soundscape” of the Transformers film.
Did the sound match the 3D visuals? Add to the visuals, or dominate the visuals?
In your opinion, what is the role of sound in a 3D film such as this one?

- The sound did go well with the movie. The sound itself is in 3D as the sound follow which direction of the objects or actors in the certain scene.

5. Compared to any other 3D film you have seen, what was the best part of this one,
and why? Give examples for your comparison.

-For me this IS the FIRST movie that I've ever watched during my 21 years of my life, so I not sure what to expect or how its going to be. So far it good but I have a headache afterward.

6. Discuss any other aspect of the film that you found added to the 3D experience.

- I guess that if the movie screen movie is bigger it can enhance the experience of watching movie in 3D.

That all I think, if I can think more then I will add more to it.
